Evaluate Your Time

Zen Habits Simple Living Manifesto

3.  Evaluate your time. How do you spend your day? What things do you do, from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep? Make a list, and evaluate whether they’re in line with your priorities. If not, eliminate the things that aren’t, and focus on what’s important. Redesign your day.

I’m back after a long time off, mostly because I was taking care of some home business.  But also, I simply didn’t structure my week so that I had some time each week to work on a blog post, and one of the Zen Habits.  With spring comes a renewal of focus, and I intend to get back to my quest for simplicity.

My day is way too hectic.  In some ways it is overplanned, and in some ways I don’t plan enough to get done the things that are important.  I often put the sand in before the rocks.   I need to revisit my priority list, and restructure my day to fit.

I’ve actually found that blog reading is not a waste of time, but an inspiring time of my day.  I need to set some time, if only 20 minutes, a day aside to read the blogs on simple living that I have in my Google reader to redirect myself and help me keep on task for my goals.  It really helps to read the thoughts of others that are either struggling with the same issues, or have found ways to conquer the same dragons I’m dealing with.

So expect to see more posts from me in the near future – but right now it’s time to spend time with the kids – a very big rock.
